The Parting Glass – part 2. (New year’s Poetry)

Part 1

Italian version

.

Happy New Year,

to whom have I seen,

to whom I have lost.

I thought, and I think finally,

that it was nice,

for a large part,

spend time with you …

but that’s it.

Start a new life,

literally,

and I fear, that my desire for new life,

is inevitably linked,

with the start of the new year.

I’m tired of too many things,

maybe I will miss many,

maybe, I’ll accept,

unlike many,

the fact that many things are over.

And I think, in the end,

it is better this way.

I have a feeling, that something inside of me is dying,

as well as something, it is reborn …

and I, I’m grateful to be still alive,

as well as all the people I met,

despite all the separations,

and these goodbyes that I’m giving.

2021 was the year of many ends,

I hope 2022 can be the beginning …

this is my wish.

Happy New Year,

– The Flying Writer.

“A man may drink and not be drunk
A man may fight and not be slain
A man may court a pretty girl
And perhaps be welcomed back again
But since it has so ought to be
By a time to rise and a time to fall
Come fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all
Good night and joy be with you all”
